On 13 September, the underground air-raid shelters at the railway station in London's south-east Krabam high street provided shelter for thousands of people during World War II. After 70 years, this huge underground tunnel system began to live – it was transformed into an underground farm.

It is reported that the underground farm belongs to a company called "0 carbon food" company. The company's main business is growing flavored micro-green plants in the underground farm by hydroponics. The process of planting miniature green plants in this underground farm is relatively simple: at first, the seeds of various plants are placed on lignocellulosic pulp, and transferred the seeds to the shelves with LED grow lights after a few days. The LED lights on the farm are bright every day for 18 hours. At the same time, the strong fan will keep the temperature of the farm at 21 ℃ to 23 ℃.

The growth cycle of plants under this kind of underground farm is relatively short, in the normal operation of the system, according to different varieties, farms could be harvested within the plant only 6 to 28 days. The harvested plants of this underground farm will be sent in hours to a senior restaurant in London. Unlike other farms in the traditional sense, the underground farm can operate all year round. In other words, a new round of planting has already begun before the harvested plant is sent to the market.

It is reported that the company is expected to sell a variety of micro-green plants it produced next month. At present, "0 carbon food" company mainly sells eight kinds of micro-plants including celery, mustard, radish. "Our first underground farm has an area of 550 square miles and can produce 700 boxes of plants per day at full capacity," said Delin, one of the founders of Carbon Foods. "In addition, the company is expected to expand the acreage of underground farms to 2,200 square miles in 2 years.

At present, the prospects for micro-green plants is very broad. "The development of the miniature green plant market is not yet building a complete system and if necessary, we can change the product into agricultural products that can be harvested in 30 days," said Barard, another founder of the "Carbon Food" company. Now, our products are mainly provided to the restaurant, but with the publicity of television programs, more and more people will get to know and like our products, "Ballard said.
